Our latest addition to the shop is an authentic Kluge double flywheel. We’ve had this machine up and running for months now, but just recently unleashed the beast within.

Hot foil stamping requires tremendous pressure and consistent heat – not to mention precision copper dies. We’ve got all the right elements to make it happen.

NFC, meet pantone

HD Design & Printing is now taking orders for offset printed business cards with embedded NFC chips. By merging high quality cards with the fast growing technology of Near Field Communications, HD Design & Printing has raised the bar for this important piece of networking collateral.

The combination of offset printed cards and next-generation Near Field Communication chips is a critical step in the advancement of printing technology. The production advantage with HD Design & Printing comes from a passion for hand-mixed inks, which provide a rich, more natural color than what is possible in CMYK printed material. Widely used by designers, the pantone color library is the standard upon which professional designers and printers rely. While color matching is the main advantage of pantone color, the tactile look and feel ink on paper provides a superior print finish in a world of toner based printing.

HD Design & Printing has set itself apart by commanding a strong grip on short run pantone printing. Recent industry trends towards digital printing has led most printers away from custom-mixed color. Because the quality of digital printing cannot stand up to traditional offset, HD’s growth has remained steady. With the addition of embedded NFC technology, HD has proven that it’s role as an industry innovator will remain intact.

Currently, our NFC chips can contain web links, text or vCard information. Google’s Nexus S and the Blackberry Bold are available now. Both read NFC cards. Many more phones will be available in coming months.

We’re proud to offer this fantastic offset print by artist Luis Abreux. Luis crossed paths with HD Design & Printing co-owner Andy Holck at a Chicago art show. This collaboration marks the first print to be offered for sale on this website.
A portion of all sales will go towards the purchase of art supplies for Cuban artists.

we didn’t do SXSW

We travel, we connect and we network. We did SXSW this year… but we didn’t really do SXSW. Our time in Austin was spent on the East Side, a part of town not promoted by the empire that is SXSW. We saw artists, designers and small businesses working hard. We met entrepreneurs whose success may not be on the mainstream radar. We enjoyed every minute of it.

Relationships take time to develop… for us, it’s not about jumping on the bandwagon.
